OVERALL IMPRESSION:

Develop arts and creativity. Detailed schedule of classes. Active parents’ participation in events. Parents have good rapport and communication with the teachers.

As first-time parent of LittleS, we went about calling preschools and planning visits nearby or a short distance away from where we stayed. We also did our homework visiting online forums, then was the debate on the increased school fees for each year.

We attended LV’s open house and attended a two weeks trial lesson. We decided LittleS will be in good hands here.

Learning Vision (LV) is located in Tong Eng Building (an old building) on two levels and requires climbing up a few flight of steps each day. The main door is locked for security reason. Sign in and out attendance were done via Ipad together with a photo-take. The child placed his/her shoes at the shoe cubicle (labeled with their name and class) before taking their temperature and doing sanitation.

On the same level is the classroom for infant (N1-K2 classes are located below), principal’s or admin’s office and the playground. Parents and Guardians are allowed to bring their children down to their respective class which at the same time allow us to look at what were taught and children’s work were displayed. Weekly class schedule and a short description of the lesson were pasted on the door, while the type of meals prepared and overall fix time schedule of all levels were placed on notice board while you go down the stairs. The whole environment is open concept for the toddlers, while K1 and K2 will be in classroom. Chinese lessons were conducted in another classroom that was filled with materials and works in Chinese. There was a corner for the children to practice self-learning base on what were taught.

The children came in uniform in the morning and after bath time they were allowed to dress in outside clothing. Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon tea, and After-class snack (sandwich) were served by in-house cook. There is a common noticeboard with photos displayed of their most recent event held in the school.

Extra-curriculum were conducted by Learning Horizon (under the same parent company) or another 3rd party during school term or as part of the June and December holidays (no fix lessons will be taught). These lessons usually requires paying extra fees and are not compulsory.

The main form of communication are hardcopy letters, email, and communication book. Parents participate in school activities such as Mother’s Day and some of these create bonding time with your child. Teachers also joined in some of the activities. Children will sometimes have mini performance for the parents only. During the season leading to Christmas, toddlers or K-level kids performed a short chorus as part of the Christmas programme line-up for Marina Bay Link Mall.

Parents-Teacher conference/ meeting were held twice a year and includes a portfolio of your child’s learning, a short description of their artwork and art-pieces.

After 5pm, children for all classes will gather for TV time showing children’s songs or stories, or may be at the classroom.

Contributing factors for early withdrawal: Comfort level of LittleS with the teacher, some behavioral changes, and coincidentally withdrawal of 2-3 classmates who have been with the school since infant care.

If LittleS’s teacher had remained the same or another teacher with the same skills, LittleS would have continued and finished her preschool years here.

Future consideration: I will still consider and recommend LV as one of the choices for childcare.

LV Now:
Previously under the umbrella of Knowledge Universe Singapore (Parent company), LV is now under Busy Bees. News About Busy Bees

Busy Bees website shows the inside view of the childcare, good for prior visit.

*Note: Above are based on my personal experience with my child a few years ago and may not be relevant or may differ for your child if you are considering LV as one of your choices.
